WHAT YOU’LL DO:

In this role you will be part of the global tax team, a team of 29 tax professionals currently. The global tax team is responsible for providing reliable and timely tax advice for various (international) business initiatives and ensuring timely and accurate tax compliance and reporting. While each team member may have their area of focus, our collective success is built on daily collaboration and mutual support to achieve our goals.

In the role of Senior Tax Manager, your focus will be on managing international and corporate tax matters, as well as the tax implications of strategic (M&A) investments. Additionally, you’ll support the business with respect to trading related taxes. You’ll closely collaborate with the regional Tax, Finance and Legal departments, as well as the Trading and Technology teams. You will report to the Global Head of Transfer Pricing and International Tax.

In this role you’ll be responsible for:

• Driving international tax projects and providing advice on (international) tax matters, including corporate income tax, withholding taxes, transfer pricing, and permanent establishment issues. You will collaborate and liaise very closely with the APAC, European and US tax teams on various business initiatives with an international tax aspect.
• Being responsible for the tax aspects of principal strategic investments (PSI) as member of Optiver’s PSI-team. This includes identifying tax risks, providing practical solutions, and overseeing implementation for Optiver’s investment (M&A) activities. 
• Supporting the European tax team with trading-related tax matters connected to operational taxes, such as dividend withholding taxes and financial transaction taxes. Understanding the securities trading business needs is key for this role, and you will receive support to further deepen your understanding of the financial markets and securities trading business.
• Providing input for tax planning analyses, tax audits, tax review of business transactions and business restructurings, and supporting the tax team with ad-hoc tax queries.
• Managing and informing key business and finance stakeholders about tax implications connected to ongoing or new projects and business initiatives. 
• Participating in the upkeep, optimization, and execution of our tax control framework by developing, embedding, and monitoring best practice tax processes in the fields where you are the subject matter expert.

WHO YOU ARE:

Optiver needs our next Senior Tax Manager to be someone with:

• An academic degree in Dutch tax law or tax economics. 
• 6 – 9 years of relevant work experience within a tax team of a multinational corporation and/or an international consulting practice.
• Strong understanding of and prior experience in managing complex corporate and international tax projects.
• Experience with transfer pricing is preferred.
• The ability to find a balance between business objectives and control requirements.
• A pragmatic self-starter attitude and excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, self-learning environment, which will ensure your success within our collaborative team.
• Experience working in an international environment.
• Excellent organizational and planning skills.
• Great written and verbal communication skills in English.
• A team player mindset with a good sense of humour.
