Optiver partners with IIT Bombay to establish AI Innovation Lab
Optiver is partnering with IIT Bombay to launch the IIT Bombay-Optiver AI Innovation Lab — a dedicated research facility that will support cutting-edge, interdisciplinary research in artificial intelligence.
The collaboration serves as the cornerstone of Optiver’s global Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment, reflecting the firm’s belief in the transformative power of academic research and education. It underscores a shared vision to advance scientific discovery, nurture future innovators, and support India’s aspiration in global AI research.
Located at IIT Bombay, this purpose-built facility will provide state-of-the-art computing infrastructure — including high-performance servers, advanced GPUs, and specialised research software — to empower faculty members, doctoral scholars, and post-doctoral researchers to pursue original and ambitious work across the field of artificial intelligence.
Commenting on the partnership, Prof. Shireesh Kedare, Director of IIT Bombay, said, “The IIT Bombay-Optiver AI Innovation Lab is a milestone in IIT Bombay’s commitment to applying artificial intelligence for societal and industry impact. This platform, where academic research and practical expertise come together, will tackle the complexities of global financial markets. This collaboration will produce innovative insights in AI-driven finance and help develop skilled researchers and professionals to lead with innovation and integrity”.

The initiative will be led jointly by Centre for Machine Intelligence and Data Science (CMInDS) and Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management (SJMSOM). Through joint research initiatives, workshops, and training programmes, the IIT Bombay-Optiver AI Innovation Lab will create a vibrant ecosystem for inquiry and innovation.
