Positioned on the trading floor, our market risk team collaborates with our trading and research teams to ensure we’re operating within our risk framework and limits. Through data modelling, the team performs in-depth risk assessments of our current as well as new trading activities. They also play a critical role in maintaining and improving our risk framework, keeping us at the forefront of an ever-changing trading environment.

Automated trading risk is a key focus area for Optiver. We have dedicated subject matter experts across the organisation, who ensure that our automated trading activities are operating within our risk appetite. And where this is not the case, identify the risk in a timely manner and advise management. With ever-changing technology in the industry, we’re focused on avoiding a risk event that can be disruptive to the market or catastrophic to our business.

Our business support function works to ensure the correct controls and governance are in place for Optiver to trade and grow in confidence. Some of these teams include:

  • Our middle office team plays a vital role in ensuring our trading operations run seamlessly. As the key link between trading, counterparties and clearing banks, they optimise the processes and applications that our trading activities rely on.
  • Our finance team provides reliable, timely information that helps drive business decisions. They ensure all reporting, treasury, and operational accounting systems and processes run efficiently and accurately.
  • Our tax team ensures that we’re working within the local tax requirements of the markets we operate in.
  • Our legal team manages and advises on Optiver contracts, legal issues and any potential disputes.
