From its Commodities headquarters in London, Optiver is seeking an experienced Commodities Spreads / Rolls Trader to lead / assist in the setup of this new desk.  The role will trade commodity rolls in a discretionary/semi-systematic or fully systematic way using fundamental and/or other signals as part of the Commodities team.  To excel, you will have access to world class trading tech and be supported by top talent globally.  You will be granted freedom to steer the growth of the business and work within Optiver’s renowned highly collaborative environment.

What you’ll do:

The role will trade commodity rolls in a discretionary/semi-systematic or fully systematic way using fundamental and/or other signals as part of the Commodities team.
This will include:

• Establish rolls trading desk within London office to trade commodity rolls both internally and externally
• Guide or conduct the research and development of models to develop trading signals
• Work with Risk to build a risk adequate risk management frameworks
• Collaborate with fundamental analysts to develop models and generate positional views
• Employ knowledge and tech of with existing options trading desks to leverage Optiver infrastructure 
• Helping hire the right talent to expand the team: traders, analysts, researchers
• Training junior traders that join the desk

Who you are:

Essential:

• Experience trading commodities spreads/rolls
• Entrepreneurial spirit and interest in building a trading business
• A track record in risk-taking and risk management 

Desirable:

• Experience of trading multiple commodities
• Coding and data science proficiency – ability to clean data and conduct research independently
