From its Commodities headquarters in London, Optiver is seeking an experienced EU Power & Gas Analyst to assist in the build out of a new desk trading and setup EU Power & Gas market fundamental monitoring . This is a true greenfield site opportunity with strong financial backing and the potential to have significant impact in the firm. What you’ll do:
Setting up EU gas and power market fundamental monitoring
This involves:
- Designing and implementing modelling framework and analysis process in a greenfield environment
- Producing and presenting output from fundamental modelling to prepare trading for market moves and identify opportunities
- Continuous interaction with our option traders, communicating what’s driving intra-day moves in EU Gas and Power markets
- Working with trading to create systematic trading strategies around fundamental data and related price moves
- Working with trading to analyze scenarios around market or fundamental events and use this analysis to
Who you are:
Essential:
- Strong EU gas and/or power research and market experience
- An ability to know where to look to quickly understand intra-day moves in EU gas & power markets
- Experience working directly with traders
- Familiarity with building relevant modelling from the ground up, e.g. power stack modelling
- Understanding of physical and financial market flows and how this impacts prices alongside fundamental factors
- Familiarity with various research/database platforms (Bloomberg, Reuters etc.)
- In-depth knowledge of data and vendor universe in EU Gas and Power markets
Desirable/Strongly preferred:
- Ability to decipher large datasets using programming languages such as Python or C# is beneficial but not essential
- Experience with options traders, options theory and volatility pricing
