Payroll Specialist

A newly created position for a Payroll Specialist to join our Operational Finance team. The successful candidate will work closely with the wider Finance Team and other business departments to manage the complete end-to-end payroll function for both local employees and those in our Hong Kong and Singapore offices. WHAT YOU’LL DO:
As a Payroll Specialist you will be responsible for:
- Managing the end-to-end processing of monthly payroll for over 500 employees both locally and regionally, including managing superannuation
- Manage month-end process, including annual and long service leave provisions, bonus provision, payroll tax and long-term incentive accounting.
- Assisting with various variable pay (bonus) and long-term incentive calculations and payments
- Monitor and respond to Payroll Inbox queries
- Support Operational Finance and the broader Finance team to ensure smooth and timely year-end process
- Assisting Finance team to provide insights and commentary for management reporting, cash and capital planning
- Provide ad hoc payroll reporting requested by HR and other internal departments
- Identifying continuous improvement opportunities in processes, controls and workpapers, and ensuring these are well documented
- Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders across the business to provide information that supports business decision making and ad hoc requests
- Supporting Group Finance reporting and information requests
- Support audits, both internal and external
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
The successful candidate will require 5+ years’ professional experience in running end to end payroll with an excellent understanding and experience in Australian payroll.
- Experience in performing month end payroll related tasks (general ledger related)
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience in performing calculations and meeting obligations relating to PAYG, Superannuation, Payroll Tax and Workers Compensation
- Experience with accounting systems (NetSuite experience is a plus)
- Strong commitment to accuracy and meeting deadlines, whilst applying a commercial and questioning mindset
- Proficient time management skills with strong ability to prioritise across conflicting deadlines
- Demonstrated experience in process and system improvements, including technology change initiatives
- Strong controls awareness, including working with control frameworks and improvements
- Commitment to high standards, producing quality outputs and delivering excellent customer service
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills, with ability to package information clearly and concisely
- Strong Excel / Microsoft Office skills
- Experience with accounting systems (NetSuite experience is a plus)
- Desire to learn and grow within the role
