WHAT YOU’LL DO
As the Engineering Manager for Global Market Access, you'll be responsible for delivering trading access to markets all around the world, scaling our systems by balancing latency, risk and time to market. Your success will come from partnering with the trading business to provide access to the biggest opportunities for global trading strategies with low development time. You will build on our existing industry-forward execution platform and re-architect it to optimise for scalability. We need an Engineering Manager who can be involved in the architecture of the system, own/run large projects, lead the team (currently 4 engineers), whilst also being comfortable getting down in the detail.
Other responsibilities include:
- Implement and/or build solutions to enable our low latency trading and help Optiver retain its leading status in the market.
- Own the design, development and deployment of services that comprise our globally distributed trading platform.
- Be a role model for the team you lead.
- Build partnerships across the business to ensure we're feeding the best ideas into our solutions.
- Manage deployments to reduce risk and provide production support, where required.
- Help ensure quality is maintained throughout our systems, including via code reviews.
- Contribute to our never-ending goal of continuous improvement, by providing feedback and ideas on where our systems and controls can be improved.
WHO YOU ARE
Optiver needs our next Engineering Manager to be someone with:
- Extensive experience with an OO programming language. Ideally C++, but C, Java, C#, Rust, Golang, etc. are also of interest.
- Experience in a leadership style role.
- Excellent understanding of computer science fundamentals, like operating systems, data structures and algorithms.
- Preferably from within the broader financial services industry.
- Understanding of computer networks and protocols (TCP/IP/UDP).
- Experience guiding projects technically or as a people manager is highly preferred.
